The Handoff - Issue #1

Hello fellow Nurse, this is your weekly handoff. Some quick and dirty nursing news that’s worth sharing. Enjoy!

Something I found interesting
By now you’ve definitely heard of the term “Quiet Quitting” a trend among workers to disengage and perform at a minimum. With nurses feeling an overwhelming sense of burnout and a lack of support, quiet quitting is at an all time high. Are you surprised? Have you quietly quitted without even realizing it? You’re probably working with some quiet quitters. You know the ones, the nurse who always has a coffee in her hand and can’t hear the call bells? Listen to this insightful and informative episode of the “The Empowered Nurse Podcast”.
Something useful
The year is quickly coming to an end. Do you have your Continuing Education credits? An easy way to bump up those numbers that doesn't involve leaving your bed. Your time is precious and this idea is genius. The creators behind this business asked themselves why they were spending hours digging through “outdated, boring, inconvenient crap that doesn’t make us better at our job or our life? We had enough of that level of dumb, so we created RNegade”. CE credits through podcast. Tell you friends and thank me later 😉
Something to talk about next shift
One night while doomscrolling on a night shift I came across this insane article. A nurse in Wisconsin thought that she might be able to scare children into wearing their winter boots by amputating her patient's frostbitten foot and putting it on display in her family’s taxidermy shop. We all know nurses are a bit weird, but this takes the cake.
